Tyson Fury has fired back at his heavyweight rival Deontay Wilder for claiming the British fighter used weighted gloves in both their previous bouts – saying the American has ‘lost his marbles’.

Fury took the Bronze Bomber’s WBC belt in February after a dominant display in Las Vegas, but Wilder has since offered a nearly endless list of excuses for his poor performance. He initially said his extravagant ring-walk costume was too heavy and blamed his trainer Mark Breland for throwing the towel in to confirm Fury’s seventh-round stoppage.

The British fighter and his team were in talks with Wilder over a trilogy bout slated for December, before abandoning discussions after failing to settle on a date.

The American claimed Fury used weighted gloves after beating him in their bout in February

That provoked an angry response from Wilder, who has claimed Fury put an ‘egg weight’ in his gloves to deal extra damage, and has also suggested that his water was spiked before the first bell.

Now Fury has responded to his latest accusations, brushing away his claims and saying ‘it’s one of those things’.

He told talkSport: ‘I think he has lost his marbles!

‘First of all it was the suit, then it was the bicep injury, then his trainer was on our team, then the referee was against him, then I had weights in my gloves…

‘Now someone has spiked his water… It’s one of those things, isn’t it.’

Sportsmail revealed negotiations between the pair had been called off last month after the rematch clause expired. Fury said he had ‘moved on’ after becoming frustrated by Wilder changing the dates initially agreed.

He is now set for a warm-up fight – possibly against Agit Kabayel – and then hopes to take on Anthony Joshua in an epic undisputed bout in 2021.

‘The original date was July 18,’ Fury added.

The Gypsy King has dismissed Wilder’s claims and pointed out his lengthy list of excuses

‘That didn’t happen because he had an injury so it got put back three months to October, then that didn’t happen because they were trying to get a venue.

‘And then they had three dates in December – 5th, 12th, 19th – which I agreed to all them and obviously that didn’t’ happen. ‘So, I’m not going to wait around forever.’

In a video uploaded to social media at the end of last month, Wilder urged Fury to ‘honour your word’ and fight him despite his rematch clause expiring and said he believed Fury had ‘something hard in your glove’ to aid his victory.

In a video on social media, Wilder said he ‘highly believes’ Fury had an egg weight in his glove and urged him to ‘honour your word’ to agree a trilogy fight

‘It’s impossible for a brand new 10oz glove to bend, to keep a smushed-in form or to have loose space,’ he said.

‘I highly believe you had something hard in your glove, something the size and the shape of an egg-weight. It’s the reason why the side of my face swelled up in an egg-weight form. And it left a dent in my face as well.

‘It is time for you to be a man and honour your word, instead of trying to weasel out of our agreement. Scared people run but a scary man will break his contract. You coward a** b****.’
