Jon Jones has again hit out at those declaring Khabib Nurmagomedov the greatest of all time ahead of himself, posting a video on Instagram.

‘Bones’ was clearly annoyed at the declarations of Khabib retiring as MMA’s GOAT in the immediate aftermath of the UFC 254 win over Justin Gaethje.

He tweeted a number of times, saying it would be ‘insulting’ be ranked below Khabib in the pound-for-pound list and has now made another dig at those putting the now-retired Dagestani ahead of him.

Khabib defended his belt in fine style against Justin Gaethje before retiring from MMA

In the clip, he says: ‘I’m talking to all you Khabib fans out there. Fifteen world titles to your guys’ four, and you guys are really talking about who’s the best fighter ever? You guys are joking, right?

‘Fifteen to four. Are you guys’ kidding me? The only person that could possibly come back and challenge my record and what I’ve done in the UFC is possibly Georges St-Pierre.

‘He would have to come back and win two championship fights to tie me, and I’m not even retired yet. I’m 33 years old. I’ve got a whole other chapter to go through

‘You guys are nuts – I love you guys so much,’ he said. ‘I hope you guys all have a great day. Fifteen world championships to four.

‘And all you guys who are going with this he’s more dominant argument, the just recently started fighting elite-level competition. Could you imagine me against the No 10 ranked guy?’

Jones previously wrote on Twitter: ‘I mean if I get out ranked by a man with only three title defences, I don’t really know what to think anymore.’

He added: ‘Not salty at all, I do really respect Khabib. I honor the type of man he is. But being the best is earned not given. Unfortunately four title fights ain’t it, no matter how much we all like em.’

Jones has won 15 title fights for either the main belt or interim crown although one of those wins was overturned for a failed drugs test.

Many fans point to the fact that Jones has twice failed drugs tests in the UFC and been subsequently banned.

For some, this puts an asterisk next to his achievements in the sport even though his body of work is greater over a longer period of time than many others, including Khabib, who may be considered the greatest.

Khabib shocked the MMA world by retiring at the age of 32 after the Gaethje fight having promised his mother it would be his last match-up without his late father and trainer Abdulmanap by his side.

He won the fight despite the broken foot he was nursing just 16 days prior to the contest and walks away with the biggest purse of his career (£4.6m).

Jones, 33, is moving up to heavyweight and has champion Stipe Miocic in his sights.
