Dominic Calvert-Lewin put Arsenal on transfer alert after his second hat-trick of the season fired Everton into the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.

The striker's treble inspired Everton to a 4-1 win over West Ham – putting him on a potential collision course with Mikel Arteta's side, who play Liverpool on Thursday for a place in the last eight.

Calvert-Lewin's three goals at Goodison on Wednesday night came hot on the heels of his first career hat-trick, which helped Carlo Ancelotti's side to a 5-2 win at home to West Brom 12 days ago.

Following his latest treble, Ancelotti backed Calvert-Lewin for an England call-up – but in his current form it won't just be Gareth Southgate who is looking at the 23-year-old.

Calvert-Lewin has been linked with interest from Arsenal in the past, and last season fans pleaded with him to switch to the Emirates after his old tweets showed he had a soft spot for the Gunners.

In one tweet, a teenage Calvert-Lewin showed his support for Arsenal during a Champions League last-16 clash against Bayern Munich.

The tweet simply read: "#COYG" (Come on you Gunners) – but it whipped some Gunners fans into a frenzy when it re-emerged earlier this year.

Alexandre Lacazette was going through an indifferent spell of form at the time, and some Twitter users said Calvert-Lewin would start ahead of the French striker in Arteta's side.

One said "Come and replace Lacazette", while another tweeted: "All u got to do is force a move no way lacazette will start over u."

Calvert-Lewin started his career at Sheffield United after growing up in the steel city, but earned a move to Everton in 2016 when he was still a teenager.

Since then he has scored 37 goals in 138 games for the Goodison side – bagging 15 of those last season in his best campaign to date.

If he can keep up his current form, Calvert-Lewin is well on his way to surpassing that total – and Gunners fans could be renewing their calls for him to sign.
