Arsenal legend Ian Wright has told the club to sign Houssem Aouar this summer.
The Lyon playmaker has been the subject of interest from the Gunners throughout the ongoing transfer window – and saw a bid rejected by his parent club as recently as last week.
The 22-year-old has proved to be a valuable asset in both Ligue 1 and the Champions League, and looks to have caught the eye of Mikel Arteta as he prepares for the October 5 deadline.
One of the player's biggest fans seems to be Arsenal legend Wright, who has picked apart the 3-1 defeat at Liverpool by suggesting that his former side were crying out for the creativity of Aouar.
Wright told Premier League Productions: “It felt like a training game for Liverpool in respect of Arsenal were saying you can try and get out but we will press you.
“You can see that in Liverpool’s team everyone can move forward because Arsenal were starting so deep but what was evident to me was that we didn’t have that person in midfield who was comfortable enough on the ball until Ceballos came on.
“[They needed] Someone who they can pass the ball to, who is comfortable to receive it with someone on his back, who can pop it off, who can turn it round the corner.
“From there Arsenal can play but we can’t do that at the moment. That’s why it’s imperative we get Aouar from Lyon.”
Wright, who scored 185 goals for the Gunners across 288 appearances between 1991 and 1998, added of Aouar: “He’s someone that can get on the ball and get the forwards going.
“You saw the chances that Ceballos made when he came on. that’s what Arsenal need.”
Arsenal had several good chances of their own but slipped to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Sadio Mane, Andy Robertson and Diogo Jota having taken the lead through Alexandre Lacazette.

Arteta told Sky Sports after the loss: "Well we are trying to improve the team. There's a week to go, there's a lot of things happening in and out."
Before adding: "We don't have any news on new players and either with players that might leave the football club.
"It's a week to go, I think it's going to be really busy for other clubs because not much business has been done. Let's see what happens."
