Arsenal have begun planning for the return of spectators to the Emirates.
Although a rise in cases saw the initial plan to start having crowds back at elite sporting venues postponed indefinitely by the government, the north London club have started to consider their options.
The Gunners are set to utilise a new ticketing system which eliminates the risk of holding paper tickets, as well as strict identity checks to ensure additional accountability.
In addition, the temperature of each attendee could be checked in a physical attempt to stop the spread.
The Mirror have reported that Arsenal have been losing £2m-a-game in gate receipts during the absence of supporters, and had been hopeful of welcoming back between 15,000 to 20,000 fans before the u-turn.
A number of Premier League clubs are said to be lobbying for the return of spectators, and have complied a list of safety measures that will help them in their cause.
League chiefs are also said to be in regular contact with the government to help speed up proceedings.
The club said in a letter to fans last week: “It is vital that we all play our part in decreasing the COVID-19 infection rate. However, we are disappointed that plans for clubs to safely welcome fans back to football stadia from 1 October 2020 have been put on hold.
“We are fully supportive of the Premier League’s position which outlines our belief that through the measures developed with scientific experts and agreed by the Government’s Sports Grounds Safety Authority, fans in stadiums can be accommodated safely.
“We have invested in all the necessary equipment and technology to ensure we can create a COVID secure environment and have worked very hard to implement the necessary safety measures.
