Chelsea team news: Predicted line-up vs West Brom as Frank Lampard faces Kepa decision

Chelsea are away to West Brom in the Premier League on Saturday as Frank Lampard’s side bid to bounce back from their Liverpool defeat. Express Sport is on hand with all the latest team news and a predicted line-up.

Lampard’s side got back on track in midweek with a 6-0 win over Barnsley in the Carabao Cup, which will have given the manager food for thought after his side lost 2-0 to Liverpool.

Kai Havertz played as a number 10 against Barnsley, teaming up with centre-forward Tammy Abraham for the first time.

And the combination worked, with Havertz bagging a hat-trick and Abraham having a hand in all three of his team-mates goals, as well as scoring one himself.

Lampard could choose to stick with the same formation as he bids to get the best out of club-record signing Havertz, while Timo Werner is set to return to the attack after staying on the bench for the Barnsley game.

But one of the biggest decisions facing the manager will be who to play in goal.

Lampard has confirmed that new signing Edouard Mendy is not ready to start having only arrived at Stamford Bridge this week.

So that leaves a choice between Kepa Arrizabalaga – who made errors in Chelsea’s openers against Brighton and Liverpool – and Willy Caballero, who stood in for the Carabao Cup win on Wednesday.

Thiago Silva could make his Premier League debut after playing 60 minutes of the midweek victory, while Lampard must also decide whether summer signing Ben Chilwell is ready to start at left-back, having come on for Havertz in the second half against Barnsley.

Lampard said: “It was good to see Thiago get 60 minutes in the tank. With Ben, I will perhaps be a bit more cautious. His injury has been a challenging one.”

Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech are both still sidelined.

Pulisic continues to nurse a hamstring issue, while Ziyech has not yet shaken off a knee complaint, but both players are back training and Lampard says they are not far away from a return.

“They are both training with us now which is good news and we hope to have them with us in match contention over the next week or two,” he said.

Branislav Ivanovic continues to build up his fitness but is unlikely to be ready in time to face his former club.

And Baggies manager Slaven Bilic will also be without suspended full-back Kieran Gibbs following his red card against Everton on Saturday.

Predicted Chelsea lineup to face West Brom (4-3-3): Kepa; James, Zouma, Silva, Alonso; Kante, Havertz, Kovacic; Mount, Abraham, Werner.
