It’s been a good few days for Chelsea after they capitalised on top-four rivals Leicester City and Manchester United's recent slip-ups by beating Norwich City 1-0 on Tuesday.
Frank Lampard’s Blues still have their Champions League destiny in their own hands going into their final two fixtures, and by securing qualification for Europe’s most prestigious cup competition they might well be able to attract a higher calibre of player.
The rumour mill has continued to crank away as this protracted Premier League season has continued into the summer.
Here are the latest transfer rumours from Stamford Bridge.
Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak has established a reputation as one of the world’s best goalkeepers, following in the footsteps of David de Gea and Thibaut Courtois in the Spanish capital.
Mirror chief football writer John Cross has exclusively revealed that Chelsea are hoping to tempt the 27-year-old Slovenian international to come to Stamford Bridge, having made him their number one goalkeeper target.
Kepa Arrizabalaga has faced criticism this season and hasn’t quite hit the standards expected after the Blues paid a world-record fee for a goalkeeper to sign him from Athletic Bilbao in 2018. There’s speculation that the club are already looking to offload him, after he spent a portion of this season demoted to the bench.
The latest report suggests that Chelsea will offer the Spain international to Atletico as a makeweight in a potential deal for Oblak.
Sports Lens report that Chelsea will table a bid of £62m to sign Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz.
The 21-year-old Germany international has enjoyed his best campaign yet with his boyhood club and is expected to depart this summer after their failure to finish in the Bundesliga’s top four.
Havertz, who has scored 18 goals and registered seven assists this season, has been a frequent fixture of the gossip columns and heavily tipped to follow in Timo Werner’s footsteps going from the Bundesliga to Stamford Bridge.
It remains to be seen whether such a bid would be sufficient, given it’s previously been reported that Leverkusen are holding out for at least £90m.
Chelsea could sell Jorginho in order to fund a move for Declan Rice, Football Insider report.
The 21-year-old England international has made over 100 appearances for West Ham since first breaking through in 2017, and could follow in Lampard’s footsteps in leaving the Hammers for their better-resourced London rivals.
Jorginho, 28, followed Maurizio Sarri from Napoli back in 2018 and was an ever-present under the Italian, but he’s since fallen out of favour under Lampard and has been tipped for a return to Serie A.
The report states that Rice is one of Chelsea’s top targets this summer as they look to strengthen their defensive unit, having conceded more goals than any other season in the Roman Abramovic era.
