The European transfer window is closed and Chelsea boss Frank Lampard knows the squad he will be working with until January, that is unless any late business is done in the final days domestic window.
The Blues spent big this summer in an attempt to join Manchester City and Liverpool as the Premier League’s biggest title contenders.
Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, Ben Chilwell, Hakim Ziyech, Edouard Mendy, Thiago Silva and Malang Sarr all joined Chelsea ahead of the 2020/21 campaign, but there were not as many departures as anticipated.
That has left Lampard with a bloated squad, one that may be trimmed in the winter window. That in turn means there is still plenty of transfer news and gossip regarding the Blues.
And with that in mind, we’ve taken a look at the latest Chelsea transfer stories.
Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has hinted that he could leave the Blues in January.
The France striker was linked with a move away from the club this summer following a number of high-profile arrivals, including the signing of fellow forward Werner.
The German has pushed Giroud further down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge, and the former Arsenal star has claimed his time at Chelsea could soon come to an end.
“I’ve been close to moving to Serie A. They appreciated experienced players there, but the transfer didn’t materialise,” Giroud said, per the Daily Express.
“For the future, we will see what happens. I will decide by evaluating the opportunities I will have. I’m not ruling out anything, but for now, I don’t see me returning to Ligue 1.
“I’d like to play at the highest level in Europe for another two or three years, then maybe I’ll go to the United States.”

Frank Lampard has admitted he faces a few "difficult" conversations as he grapples with a Chelsea squad overwhelmed with talent and seven new summer signings.
“When you have a squad of 20-plus players, which is what you have, you have to fight as much as you can to do the job right,” Lampard said.
“When you are trying to select squads and teams as you go through the season, you are trying to do it honestly and you front it up with the players.
“Even though they can be some difficult conversations, I think they respect that, particularly modern players. In years gone by, managers may have dropped players out and told the to get on with it in that old-school kind of way but I try to be as open and as honest with as many players as I can be.”

Chelsea star Christian Pulisic has backed the Blues’ summer signing to make all the difference and
push the club towards the Premier League title this season.
“We’ve brought in more experienced players this year with some new signings, and I think we also have a great group of young guys so I think it’s a really good mix,’ the United States forward told CBS Sports.
“Last year was more of a transition year where obviously we couldn’t sign any new players, but we still had some of the guys who’d been there.
“What was great about last year is a lot of the young guys got a lot of experience. This year there’s definitely a boosted confidence, we’ve got an edge. We’re ready, we want to compete, and we want to win titles.”
