Frank Lampard’s expenditure in his first summer transfer window unburdened by a transfer ban has seen the former midfielder spend upwards of £200million on new faces at Chelsea.
Stamford Bridge has welcomed Kai Havertz, Thiago Silva, Ben Chilwell, Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech among others over recent months, with the Blues’ latest addition joining this week.
Stade Rennais goalkeeper Edouard Mendy ended Lampard’s pursuit for a suitable Kepa Arrizabalaga replacement, laying to rest his concerns of fielding the error-prone Spaniard for another season.
In terms of outgoings, Chelsea may yet need to offload certain fringe members of the squad who now find themselves surplus to requirements at the Bridge. Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s omission from recent squads suggests he could potentially depart, while Emerson Palmieri grows ever closer to a Serie A return.
Here is the latest Chelsea transfer round-up.
Chelsea appear intent on continuing their summer spree until the very end of this summer’s transfer window, as the Daily Express reports the club have agreed terms with Declan Rice.
The West Ham United defensive midfielder is said to be content with the terms offered on a potential five-year deal at Stamford Bridge, where he would re-join childhood friend Mason Mount.
Rice spent much of his youth football career at Chelsea’s Cobham training complex, before being jettisoned in 2014, aged 15.
Since then, he has gone on to make 100 Premier League appearances for West Ham United and established himself as an England international.
The Hammers are intent on receiving their full asking price of £80million according to the Express, which if paid would see Chelsea’s spending soar past £300million for this window.

Chelsea goalkeeper Arrizabalaga may have played his final game of the season in a Blues shirt, following the arrival of Mendy.
The Spaniard is not thought to be trusted by Lampard and subsequently has been listed as available for loan, according to The Metro.
Chelsea are hopeful a temporary move where he could regain some semblance of the form he displayed at Athletic Club, would help to raise his standing in Europe once again.
In doing so, the club hope to be able to sell the Spanish goalkeeper for their £40million asking price next summer, which at present seems a rather large sum for an error-prone stopper.
No concrete destinations have been suggested for the 25-year-old as of yet, but the club have made it abundantly clear the 10-cap international will not be first choice at the Bridge this season.
Chelsea’s Champions League rivals Arsenal could look to Jorginho in their attempts to sign another midfielder before the transfer window closes.
Sky Sports reports Arsenal may be priced out of moves for Thomas Partey and Houssem Aouar, but an agreement could be struck with Chelsea for the Italian international following their considerable expenditure on incomings this summer.
Jorginho was signed under Maurizio Sarri and was a trusted lieutenant of the Italian coach, but has divided opinion with his performances under Lampard.
With the wealth of midfield options currently at Lampard’s disposal, 28-year-old Jorginho could be discharged for a fee which may be deemed reasonable by Arsenal.
Mikel Arteta also refused to rule out a potential move for the deep-lying playmaker, further suggesting that a deal could be in the offing and ready to be concluded in the next week.
