Edouard Mendy is undergoing a medical at Chelsea, Frank Lampard has confirmed.
Rennes' goalkeeper is joining the Blues today in a deal worth £22m.
Kepa Arrizabalaga's horror show against Liverpool on Sunday makes Mendy's arrival all the more timely.
The Spaniard will inevitably be replaced as Lampard's No.1 by Mendy, and he could make his Chelsea debut this weekend.
Chelsea play West Brom away in the Premier League on Saturday (5.30pm), and Lampard has announced the latest on his impending signing.
The Blues boss said: "Mendy is having a medical as we speak. Subject to that being okay, then he will be a Chelsea player."
Experienced back-up Willy Caballero will also figure ahead of Kepa tomorrow in the Carabao Cup.
Chelsea face Barnsley in the third round and putting the Argentinian in goal was a decision Lampard made before the 2-0 loss to Liverpool at the weekend.

He added: “The Caballero decision was made before the game. He trains brilliantly throughout the year.
“It's more competition with Mendy coming in.”
Petr Cech was key to the signing of Mendy and Lampard revealed what role the Blues legend played in luring the Ligue 1 talent to Stamford Bridge.
Lampard said: "Petr was important in that. It's a particular position and he has had a big say and was very instrumental."
