Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid on red alert as Ajax boss Erik ten Hag admits star trio Donny van de Beek, Andre Onana and Nicolas Tagliafico are set for moves abroad

  • Man Utd and Real Madrid are interested in midfielder Donny van de Beek
  • Goalkeeper Andre Onana and Nicolas Tagliafico are being courted by Chelsea
  • Erik ten Hag says Ajax will see how the transfer window develops this summer
  • The window is set to open in August after the completion of domestic leagues

Ajax coach Erik ten Hag has confirmed that star players Donny van de Beek, Andre Onana and Nicolas Tagliafico could all leave the club this summer.

Manchester United and Real Madrid target van de Beek, 23, could leave Holland if the price is right, while Cameroonian goalkeeper and Chelsea target Onana’s situation is believed to be similar to that of his team-mate.

Left back Tagliafico, 27, linked with Premier League duo Chelsea and Arsenal, is the most likely to leave according to ten Hag, who is waiting to see how the transfer window develops this summer following the completion of domestic leagues and the impact the coronavirus crisis has had on clubs across Europe.

Oldest of the trio Nicolas Tagliafico is the most likely to leave according to Erik ten Hag

‘The transfer market will start in August – the top leagues are now being played out, so the money flows are maintained,’ Ten Hag told Dutch outlet Het Parool.

‘The market value of players will be slightly depressed, but not much. Based on their performance and ambition, a number of our players also want to make the move abroad.

‘Agreements have been made with Andre Onana, Donny van de Beek and Nicolas Tagliafico, but it remains to be seen whether the market is indeed breaking loose.

‘For Onana and Van de Beek, another year of Ajax could certainly be an option, for Tagliafico it is slightly different because of his age.’

Ajax chief executive Edwin van der Sar admitted earlier this month that his former club Man Utd are interested in signing midfielder van de Beek.

As reported by NOS, Van der Sar said: ‘It’s clear that clubs like Real Madrid and are Manchester United are showing interest in Donny van de Beek.’

Ajax have already let a host of top players depart in the past year, as the squad which reached last season’s Champions League semi-finals continues to break up.

Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong left to Juventus and Barcelona respectively last summer, while Chelsea have already agreed the signing of winger Hakim Ziyech.
