Frank Lampard has been asked whether he will still be Chelsea manager in seven years time.

The former Blues midfielder and England intentional was chosen to replace Maurizio Sarri in 2019 after helping Derby into the Championship play-off final the previous season.

Despite helping his former side secure Champions League qualification, the pressure has ramped up this season after Roman Abramovich sanctioned a summer spend in excess of £200m.

Lampard’s opposite number this weekend is Burnley’s Sean Dyche – who is the third longest serving manager in professional English football having joined the club from Watford back in 2012.

“No manager will commit to the answer you want there,” Lampard said when asked if he will be at Chelsea for as long as Dyche has been in charge at Turf Moor.

“It's a great achievement from Sean, what he has done at Burnley when you think about the balance of the Premier League and results he has produced there year after year.

“It's always a difficult game. No doubt it will be very tough.”

Lampard was left delighted by his side’s performance in the 4-0 win over Krasnodar on Wednesday, and was also pleased that Abramovich was able to attend a Chelsea clash for the first time in 18 months.

When asked if he had the chance to chat to the billionaire, Lampard said: “I was aware that he was at the game which always makes us happy. I always feel the support of the owner whether he is here at games or not.

“To have him here is a nice bonus for myself and the squad, we are very respectful of him, of course.

“I didn’t manage to see him because before the game I was in the dressing room and a few of my staff members came to talk to him and by the time I was at the warm up, he wasn’t around.

“I am very pleased we put on what I thought was a good performance with four goals and a clean sheet in his home country. So I hope it made him happy.”

Chelsea take on Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday with the chance to move into the top four.
