Manchester United could reportedly be helped in their attempt to sign Ousmane Dembele from Barcelona by former Red Devils man Memphis Depay.
United are believed to be looking to seal a loan deal for Dembele, who has struggled with injuries during his time at the Nou Camp.
He is not high on Ronald Koeman’s pecking order with the new manager believed to be willing to allow the Frenchman to depart.
Barca are eager to sign Depay in the final days of the transfer window with the Dutchman impressing at Lyon.
Should the former United man head to the La Liga giants, RAC1 claim that Dembele will drop further down the pecking order.
And that could help United secure a deal with it becoming even more likely that former Borussia Dortmund star Dembele would be allowed to leave.
Manchester United hero Darren Fletcher has warned of the risk his former club face if they sign Dembele.
He said: “I think Ousmane Dembele’s a right-winger, a position they are finally identifying. Barcelona purchased him for £100m or something like that.

“It comes with its risks – his injury record is not great over the last few seasons – I think he only made five league appearances last season, but he’s a talented player.

“It’s a chance to showcase himself, get opportunities, get fit and potentially look for a transfer down the line, but I wouldn’t say they’ve got to sign him because of his injury record, and he has tendencies to be late a lot of the time judging by reports.”
