Former Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood claims Manchester United have already agreed a deal to sign Jack Grealish this summer.
The 24-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford this season, thanks in no small part to his fantastic form with boyhood club Villa.
Grealish has scored nine goals in all competitions for Villa and the club’s chances of keeping him look slim, even if they retain their position in the Premier League.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was full of praise for Grealish following the midfielder’s stunning goal at Old Trafford in December and the Norwegian wants to add even more creativity to his midfield following the acquisition of Bruno Fernandes in January.
The pandemic has created uncertainty over how the summer transfer window will play out but Sherwood, who managed Grealish during his time at Villa Park, claims a deal has already been reached for the midfielder to move to Old Trafford.
‘I think Jack Grealish is a deal which is already done,’ Sherwood told Premier League Productions.
‘He’s a player that they [Manchester United] need. I honestly believes there’s only one club for Jack Grealish.
Pushed further on his claim, Sherwood said it was inevitable that Grealish would move to the Theatre of Dreams.
‘I don’t think he can stay at Aston Villa, he needs to progress his career. I think he signs for Manchester United.’
United’s priority remains Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho but the Red Devils are refusing to meet the Bundesliga giants’ £100m valuation of the midfielder.
Instead, United will attempt to talk the Germans down to a figure closer to £75m, though reports of a £50m bid are wide off the mark.
Solskjaer will then prioritise strengthening in central midfield with Grealish a leading target, while the Norwegian remains keen on signing a new centre forward.
