Liverpool sent Salah and Mane transfer warning with Klopp urged to make one signing

Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has warned Jurgen Klopp that clubs will invariably make approaches to sign Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane this summer while there is one position he feels Jurgen Klopp must improve. Liverpool are on the verge of winning their first top flight title in 30 years after clinching three points against Crystal Palace.

They could be crowned champions as early as this evening if Manchester City fail to beat Chelsea.

Klopp’s side have been in full control of the league all season long and are on course to break a number of Premier League records.

The Liverpool boss will undoubtedly want to build on this season’s impeccable run of form to dominate for years to come.

For that to happen, Klopp will need to hold on to his best players.

In years gone by, Liverpool have often struggled to convince their top players to stay at Anfield with the likes of Fernando Torres, Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho all wanting new challenges.

And Fowler has warned Klopp to expect approaches from clubs enquiring about Salah and Mane this season.

“There’s going to be a little bit of talk about Mo Salah again and Sadio Mane,” he said on Premier League Daily.

“Good players ultimately get linked with top European clubs.”

Klopp will be more hopeful of strengthening his side having been relatively quiet in the last three transfer windows.

The club have already hinted that Klopp won’t have vast amounts of money available to him having pulled out of the race to sign Timo Werner.

Instead, the German coach will likely have to target bargain buys – much like he did with Andy Robertson.

The Scottish full-back has been a revelation since arriving at Liverpool in 2017.

But James Milner is currently the back-up option to fill in when Robertson is injured or in need of a rest.

And Fowler would like to see a recognised left-back come in and provide competition for Robertson.

“For a player to come into this team, it’s going to be hard to make them any better because they are a really good side,” he added.

“Where I’d like to see them build is – think of the game against Everton where they probably struggled on the left-hand side.

“James Milner will never, ever let you down. Him coming into that left-back position, but if Andy Robertson does get injured again or does have a dip in form, I think we just need someone to cover Robertson just to strengthen the squad.”
