Liverpool star Roberto Firmino’s reaction to Diogo Jota miss spotted in new footage

Liverpool star Roberto Firmino’s angry reaction to a Diogo Jota miss against Arsenal has emerged in new footage. The Brazilian could not get on the scoreboard as the Reds saw off Mikel Areta’s side 3-1. But new £45m forward Jota did find the back of the net two minutes before the 90.

The Portuguese midfielder was surrounded by his team-mates when the ball hit the back of net after Sadio Mane and Andy Robertson’s strikes.

But footage has emerged of Firmino, who is still looking for his first goal of the season, reacting in a different way to the 23-year-old on two occasions.

In new footage from the game, Jota has only been on the pitch for three minutes when he picks up the ball from Mohamed Salah.

A heavy first touch sends him to the left, with the No.9 waiting in space near the goal mouth.

But the Anfield debutant decides to go for goal and his shot hits the side netting, leaving Jota with his hands on his head.

And Firmino can only look over in disappointment before play gets restarted.

When the Portuguese star gets his goal five minutes later, he is mobbed by all of his outfield team-mates except the Brazilian.

Liverpool’s No.9 appears a few seconds later, grabbing Jota’s head before shoving it forward.

This footage has earned more than 120,000 views within two hours of publishing on the club’s official YouTube channel.

And the Anfield faithful were surprised to see Firmino’s reaction, with one supporter saying: “Look at what Firmino did – hilarious!”

Another commented: “I bet Fermion isn’t too happy Jota didn’t pass to him.”

While a third sent a warning to Jurgen Klopp, with: “Bobby needs to score.”

And a fourth made a big prediction, adding: “Great debut for Diogo, he might have a chance replacing Firmino.”

Jota suffered another awkward moment when he took the ball away from Salah in another attack on the Gunners.

The forward looked to have the perfect chance to open his account when the ball dropped to him inside the box, only for Salah to steal it away from him with the chance going begging.

And ex-Liverpool man Emile Heskey has warned that the forwards will need to have a chat.

“You’re not going to be happy with that, you are going to be talking to him at half-time or at the end of the game,” Heskey told Sky Sports.

“But this is something you have to get over on the pitch, you can’t dwell on these things because you have still got a game to play.

“After the game you have got to sit down and discuss these things. That little spat they had with Mane as well last season, they get over it. You shake hands and you move on.”
