Manchester United may have a free run at David Brooks if they want to make a move for the Bournemouth attacker while their attempts to sign Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho stall, according to reports.
Brooks, 23, is on United’s list of alternatives if they cannot secure an agreement with Dortmund to sign Sancho.
The German outfit are determined that they will not accept anything less than £108million for the England winger and United are not willing to meet that asking price.

And Bournemouth’s Brooks would be a far cheaper alternative to Sancho, although the relegated Cherries are still holding out for £40m for the attacker.
The Welshman has played in both of Bournemouth’s two Championship matches so far this season, playing out on the right flank while also being deployed up front in the Carabao Cup penalty shootout win at Crystal Palace.
That’s after making just nine appearances last term, all of which came after the Premier League restart following ankle surgery.
His previous campaign in England’s top flight in 2018-19 saw him score seven goals and lay on five in just 30 appearances after an £11.5m move from Sheffield United.
And despite his lengthy injury absence, Brooks’ talents have long admired by the United hierarchy, while he is also liked by Leicester City.
United had considered a move last summer but were put off when they were quoted around £50m and swooped to sign Swansea’s Daniel James instead.
But the Manchester Evening News claim now that the Foxes are no longer looking to sign the Wales international following the arrival of Roma winger Cengiz Under on loan.

Brendan Rodgers’ side have signed the 23-year-old Turk on a season-long loan with the option of making the deal permanent for £24m.
The Midlands club deemed that a more cost effective signing than dropping £40m on ex-Manchester City academy prospect Brooks.
That leaves United as the only club keen on Brooks as they look to give Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a right-sided attacker.
They have considered a swoop for the attacker but MEN Sport say that so far, no official bid has been submitted.
Speaking about the possibility of Brooks heading to Old Trafford earlier this month, Red Devils legend Ryan Giggs – who manages the player at international level – labelled him “a very talented player”.
“I’ve seen there’s speculation about a lot of players,” Giggs, who spent the bulk of his career on the left flank, added.
“Brooksy’s obviously a talented player and now Bournemouth are in the Championship.

“I’ve always said it’s better if the lads are playing, and the higher the standard the better as well. But that isn’t always a given.
“Some players have gone to Premier League teams and not actually played. We’ve got a lot of lads in the Championship.
“I don’t think it would matter with Brooksy, even if it’s in the Premier League or Championship, he’d still have that bit of class.
“There’s a lot of speculation with a lot of Premier League clubs, United included.
“He’s a player who gets you off your seat, he’s someone who likes to take players on and make things happen.”
Other alternative options to Sancho for United include Juventus wide-man Douglas Costa, Ivan Perisic of Inter Milan and Watford’s Ismaila Sarr.
