Manchester United reportedly think Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele can excite fans should he sign on transfer deadline day. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has spent the whole summer chasing a deal for Jadon Sancho, only to find Borussia Dortmund reluctant to sell. And, after losing 6-1 to Tottenham on Sunday, the Red Devils could now switch focus.
Two arrivals are practically guaranteed for United on transfer deadline day.
The Red Devils are poised to land Edinson Cavani, with the PSG icon set to sign a two-year contract at Old Trafford following his exit from the Ligue 1 giants.
And Alex Telles is currently at Carrington to undergo his medical, with United agreeing a fee with Porto on Sunday night.
Despite that, Solskjaer wants more. He knows his side need more stardust if they’re to improve, especially after being beaten so emphatically by Tottenham.
Jose Mourinho’s side were too strong over the weekend, with braces from Son Heung-Min and Harry Kane, as well as further strikes from Tanguy Ndombele and Serge Aurier, inflicting the heaviest defeat of the Solskjaer era.

And Mundo Deportivo say that, in the wake of that humiliation, United think Dembele can excite fans.
The France international was sensational during his time at Borussia Dortmund, winning plaudits for his speed and direct style of play.
Things haven’t worked out at Barcelona, however, with the 23-year-old regularly plagued by injury problems throughout his spell at the Nou Camp.
Dembele has also had issues with a PlayStation addiction, with club staff once having to drag him out of bed after he missed training.
But, if United can get him back to his Dortmund best, then they’d be onto a winner.

Speaking recently, Barcelona legend Rivaldo expressed a belief that Dembele would be a good fit for United despite his problems in Catalonia.
“There are rumours about him leaving the club at the end of the season, but while he is around, the manager should use him,” Rivaldo said.
“Manchester United are rumoured to be interested in him after having difficulties in their bid to sign Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.
“Dembele could be a good option for United. He’s very quick and talented, and I believe he could prosper in the Premier League.”
Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman hinted Dembele could leave the club after his side’s 1-1 draw with Sevilla on Sunday, saying: “What is certain in the world? I don’t know.

“At the moment, he’s a Barcelona player. There’s still one day left for incomings and outgoings. We’ll see.
“I opted for [Francisco] Trincao, Pedri and [Miralem] Pjanic [off the bench].
“We needed more control and that’s why I made these changes.”
United have had mixed success with former Barcelona players over the years.
Mark Hughes and Zlatan Ibrahimovic both did well at Old Trafford but Alexis Sanchez and Victor Valdes never lived up to expectations.
