Man Utd transfer round-up: Aston Villa want duo in Jack Grealish deal

This summer was expected to be a big one for Manchester United following their qualification for next season’s Champions League.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer applied pressure on his employers to deliver him new signings as soon as United’s top-four place was confirmed on the final day of last season, but so far none have arrived.

Speculation continues to swirl around the Old Trafford club, though, with Jadon Sancho still on United’s radar despite Borussia Dortmund’s refusal to lower their asking price for the winger.

There’s plenty of time for the Red Devils to get new faces in, but the clock is ticking. Here are three of today’s biggest and most compelling Manchester United transfer stories.

Galatasaray keen on United midfielder

United midfielder Fred is on Galatasaray’s radar with the Turkish club eager to complete a deal for the Brazilian before the start of the new season.

Turkish outlet Fotomac, via Sport Witness, claims Galatasaray are looking for midfield additions and that Fred has been identified as their top target, with Jean Michael Seri and Mario Lemina, who have both spent spells on loan at the club, also linked.

It is reported that Galatasaray could offer to loan Fred from United after registering their interest in the 27-year-old as long ago as last summer when the Brazilian was out of the picture at Old Trafford.

Since then, Fred has proven his worth under Solskjaer, having made 48 appearances for the Red Devils in all competitions during the 2019/20 season.

Villa eye United duo as part of Grealish deal

Diogo Dalot and Sergio Romero could be targeted by Aston Villa as makeweights in a deal to send Jack Grealish to Manchester United.

Grealish is a long-term target for the Old Trafford club and could still join the Red Devils despite interest in the midfielder having seemingly cooled over the summer.

The Daily Star reports that Villa boss Dean Smith is keen to improve his defensive options ahead of the 2020/21 Premier League season and could ask for Dalot and Romero to be included in a transfer for Grealish.

Dalot has become a fringe figure for United under Solskjaer while the Norwegian coach has already admitted that one of David de Gea, Dean Henderson or Romero will leave Old Trafford this summer.

Sandro Tonali is believed to be on the brink of signing for Inter Milan, but Manchester United have reportedly made a late call about the availability of the Brescia midfielder.

Corriere dello Sport, via Sport Witness, claims Brescia and Inter have reached an agreement over the fundamental framework of a deal that could take the 20-year-old to the San Siro this summer.

However, the report claims United have now made a call to enquire about the availability of Tonali despite Brescia and Inter having done the majority of the work on a transfer.

The young midfielder made 35 appearances in Serie A last season, catching the eye of Inter and AC Milan who were, until recently, also believed to be working on a proposal for the 20-year-old.
