Marcos Alonso and Thiago Silva slated for errors in West Brom goals vs Chelsea

Football fans were quick to slate Marcos Alonso and Thiago Silva as Chelsea fell to a 3-0 deficit against West Brom inside 30 minutes.

The Baggies took the lead early on following a poor header from Alonso with the lead doubled as Silva mis-controlled.

Callum Robinson was the benefactor of both mistakes before Kyle Bartley added a third from a corner with just 28 minutes on the clock.

Fans swiftly criticised Alonso for his error with the Spaniard starting as Ben Chilwell continues to work his way towards full fitness.

One posted on social media: “Alonso is useless in this game”.

While another agreed, writing: “Alonso is one stupid useless defender”.

A third was also not pleased with what they saw from the defender: “Alonso is literally never where he needs to be. Absolutely f***ing awful player.”

With one more adding: “Ok, usually I think Alonso gets too much slander on here…but he’s been awful so far today”.

But it wasn’t just Alonso being criticised with Silva, who headed to Stamford Bridge on a free from PSG earlier this summer, also being slated.

Following his error, one wrote: “36 year old Thiago Silva they thought was the answer. My goodness, Chelsea aren’t serious”.

With one more putting: “I thought Thiago Silva was supposed to strengthen the Chelsea defence?”

And another added: “Thiago Silva was signed to improve Chelsea’s defence, they conceded 3 goals in 27minutes.”

It didn’t stop there as another Premier League fan commented: “What did they think was going to happen by signing old man Thiago Silva lmao”.
