What Man Utd ‘hope’ Jadon Sancho does after club submit first transfer offer

Manchester United must hope Jadon Sancho “agitates” for a move to Old Trafford once they submit their first offer for the player, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth. Sancho remains United’s top target for this window but they are not yet prepared to pay Borussia Dortmund’s £108million asking price. Dortmund have stated the 20-year-old will remain with them this season after an exit was not completed by their self-made August 10 deadline.

But Sheth claims there is still a chance of United getting a deal done for the England star.

But Sancho must play a role once an official offer has been made to Dortmund.

Sheth said on The Transfer Show: “The onus is now on Manchester United to make an official offer and then hope that Sancho then agitates for move, he asks Dortmund: ‘Listen to what United have got to say, I want to move there’.

“No guarantee though that Dortmund will sell even if those two things come together.

“But you have to say, if United make an offer and Jadon Sancho does agitate, it would change the dynamics of a potential deal.”

United have made just one signing so far this summer, with Dutch midfielder Donny van de Beek arriving from Ajax for £40m.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side finished third in the Premier League table last season.

But former West Ham goalkeeper Shaka Hislop believes Chelsea’s summer business means they will overtake United this season.

“I understand about the Bruno Fernandes impact but quite clearly that can’t continue,” Hislop told ESPN FC.

“Just when you look at the squads pound for pound, I think they’re the fourth best in the league. As a result, I’ve got them fourth.

“Do you really think we’re going to be talking about a 2020/2021 season that goes undefeated with Bruno Fernandes on the park? No it can’t.

“I still don’t think that they are that good defensively, they still have issues around David de Gea.

“At one point the best in the league without question but now, as I’ve said previously, I think he’s on a downward trend and I think that has a huge impact on them at the back.

“Do they have enough to support that going forward? Quite clearly time will tell, but as we sit right now I don’t think so.”
